- Faf du Plessis admitted that he would support DC against MI in that match.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) put themselves in the race for the playoffs by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) in their final league game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. However, RCB’s qualifications are not entirely in their hands, requiring Mumbai Indians to beat Delhi Capitals for Faf du Plessis and Co.
While RCB occupy the fourth spot in the points table, DC will be outclassed if they beat MI in their final league stage. After making his franchise work against the Titans, du Plessis admitted that he is backing Mumbai to beat Delhi and favor Bengaluru.
“Tonight was really important for obvious reasons. You want to bolster the competition and show that you’re a bunch of people who have character within the dressing room. I think the worst thing that happened to us tonight was It could have been a softer performance. It was really important for me to see us as a group today and to control what we have in our hands,” Faf said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
RCB, having taken control of their fortunes a few games earlier, were looking too strong to challenge for the top 2 spot. However, defeats against Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals affected his campaign to a great extent. Now, the team cannot do much but expect MI to emerge victorious against DC.
