I’m a Walmart Employee – Stores Are Cutting Prices on Some Items and You Have to Look in 2 Departments to Bargain

Thousands of Rollbacks Shown on Walmart’s Website

In the company’s first quarter earnings call on May 17, it was revealed that more than 10,000 rollbacks are in effect in stores across the country.

According to John Furner, President and CEO of Walmart US, seasonal products and general merchandise are seeing the most rollbacks at this time.

“I feel really good about rollbacks and perfect productions,” Furner said on the call.

“We see in stores—I’ve been in stores across the country. The store is excited about the rollback and the customers are responding.

“The execution has been strong.”

Air purifiers, air fryers, grills, outdoor toys and gardening tools are among the current rollback items displayed on the site.

The rollback on apparel first began in 2022 and will continue in the second quarter.

Many other items including kitchen appliances, sports equipment, furnishings etc. are also being marked on the store’s website.

As inflation continues to rise, Walmart’s rollbacks offer some relief to families who are grappling with the cost of living.

Walmart President and CEO Doug McMillan said on that call that “inflation in food pulls more dollars away from GM.” [general merchandise],

He also noted on the call that general merchandise inventory levels rose by about 33 percent in the previous quarter as a result of inflation.

More rollbacks appear to help the company rebound after first-quarter profits were lower than executives expected.

Executives expect the company’s profits to jump in the coming quarters.
